BIG's Learn to Ride Classes
We are thrilled that our "Learn to Ride" program is on its fourth season! If you or someone you know would like to learn how to ride a bicycle, then we encourage you to register yourself, your child, or help us spread the word. BIG's dedicated instructors teach the basics of balancing, starting, stopping and steering a bicycle to children, teenagers and adults who would like to learn to ride.
Cost: $35 per participant
(There is limited scholarship money available if the cost is not feasible for your household. Please reach out to BIG's Project Coordinator Nicole Lindahl if this is the case: Nicole.Lindahl@bikegso.org)
Description
15 participants within each age group will be taught how to ride a bicycle by instructors who have earned The League of American Bicyclists' League Cycling Instructor certification. Participants will learn the basics of balancing, starting, stopping, and steering using the "balance first" method. Pedals will be removed until instructors are confident that the participant is ready for the pedals to be put back on the bike.
In the case that a participant does not have their pedals put back on their bike within the time frame of the class, they may participate in as many classes as they need without additional charge, until instructors are confident that the participant is ready for their pedals and can ride their bike with their pedals on.
There is a limit of 15 participants per class. There is also a $35 participation fee; however, we are willing to work with individuals with financial constraints to make this accessible. Please contact ---> Nicole.Lindahl@bikegso.org if this is the case.
What to Bring
In the case of rain, the event shall be postponed until the next available date and location. If weather does force us to reschedule, registrants will be contacted prior to the class by the email provided when registering.
