The Greensboro Ride of Silence is part of a world-wide event uniting bicyclists globally in honoring those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. Thus, the ride raises awareness of cyclists' presence on roads and encouraging motorists to share the road.

On May 20th, this important event will still be held, but in a different format as we do our part to encourage social distancing in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Ride solo or with members of your household during the event.
  • Register so that we know how many will be participating.
  • Report your ride on the international Ride of Silence's easy-to-use platform that will be announced closer to the event date. This will link the rides together, making a statement, yet complying with social distancing requirements.
  • You are encouraged to post a picture of yourself riding during the event on a social media platform along with the hashtag: #RideofSilenceGSO
Participation will more important than ever, particularly since cyclist numbers have increased with current circumstances. Streets are less congested but do not have adequate traffic calmers in place to deal with lower car traffic. Stress levels are high. The need to share the road needs to be voiced loud and clear. Please participate.
